Heavy frontline melee, a few flank protectors. Ikko: Ronin heavy with warrior monk support.Ĭhosokabe: Archer heavy, up to 12 units. Hattori: Same as Oda, ashigaru heavy with specialised units for support. Oda: Ashigaru heavy with specialised units (Naginata monks for warcry, cavalry for flanking etc). Tokugawa: Implimenting Teppo Cavalry (they are damn strong). Takeda: Standard setup, All cav if i feel like experimenting. Uesugi: All monk armies at higher difficulty due to cheap upkeep. Hojo: Standard setup unless i toy with mortars/fire rockets. Though i make sure to bring archers and a few spears to back em up. Yari Ashigaru is sometimes swapped out with more naginata samurais or matchlock samurai's, i can use the yari cav for defence then for offence once the enemy cavalry is taken care of.ĭate: I tend to field alot of no-dachi despite them taking heavy casualties, they are alot cheaper on higher difficulties. On hard it depends more on economy.Įither way here's my general strategy (although i tend to go radical sometimes).ģx Yari Cavalry (flank/rear attackers. On easy/normal army composition can be nearly anything. I want to have a go as the Uesugi and am curious as to what their armies strengths might be.depends on difficulty and clan I'm played and eventually lost a campaign as Date and I found myself using:Ĥ Bulletproof Samurai and 2 Naginata Samurai as front lineĢ Katana Samurai and 2 No-Dachi Strike force What are your proffered/recommended army compositions for the different clans, with attention to their strengths and neighbors? In this scenario I will use my samurai archers as swords if necessary, they're pretty good this way, definitely enough to slaughter ashigaru, especially as Date start with a weaponsmith. With Date I have usually gone for the following: When I play as Tokugawa, however, I will go for more cav, naginata sam, katana sam and more archers, won't even bother with matchlock until much later (with Oda I went straight for yari / matchlock combo in research).

Needless to say this composition is bomb-proof (I have access to weaponsmith in Sagami and legendary Yari dojo so my Ashigaru are completely OP, like 16 attack and 18 def, crazy).

Currently playing Oda (doing pretty OK although I can see an almighty mess around the corner already - 3 clans remain on map, I am in the middle lol) and my preferred army composition is as follows: I have found myself fielding radically different army compositions for each clan quite clearly playing to their strenths. You know, this is quite funny, been thinking about this in relation to the standard criticism towards S2TW - all clans have access to exactly the same units.
